Notting Hill
Welcome to Notting-Hill.co.uk
Notting Hill is one of the trendiest areas of West London with plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, and specialist shops that line the streets of the area.
Geographically it is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and is known most notably for the Notting Hill Carnival which occurs every August Bank Holiday and the Portobello Market which runs Monday thru Saturday.
The Notting Hill area gained a large amount of public attention after the 1999 film "Notting Hill" which starred Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. It was only fitting that this would bring a great amount of acclaim to the area as the 90's was a period of massive remodelling and redesign for the entire Notting Hill area.
Today, the area is very pricey to live and shop in, but is still noted as one of the most soulful places of West London with plenty of spirited shops and boutiques and regular festivities. It is also known for its nightlife scene with many of London's most exclusive and sought after night clubs located within the small region.
Of particular note entertainment wise is the Notting Hill Coronet which is one of the most historical locations throughout the area. The Coronet was originally open in 1889 as a theatre today is an independent cinema that holds most of its historical value still.
The best way to get into the Notting Hill area unless you plan on driving in is the Notting Hill Gate tube station which is placed on the Central , Circle, and District Lines making the area central from almost any starting location.
Buses also run throughout the area and Black Cabs can be hailed once you are in Notting Hill although there are no official taxi cab bays throughout the Notting Hill area.
In general the Notting Hill area offers full accommodations to those looking to reside in the area and those who are simply visitors, although the price of rent and residences is considered to be inflated in comparison with property prices throughout the greater London area.
